Tian Lourens, Irrigation Designer at Overberg Agri, was recently awarded the South African Irrigation Institute’s (SABI) prestigious National Exam Trophy. Sabi President, Willie Vosloo, proudly handed the trophy to him at the SABI National Congress 2019 banquet and awards dinner, held in KwaZulu-Natal.
Tian won the trophy for achieving top marks in SABI’s National Exam – a highly regarded technical exam for irrigation designers – akin to an accountancy board exam or the like. Once a designer has passed this examination, he or she is awarded the status of “SABI-Approved Irrigation Designer” – a renowned stamp of recognition within the industry.
Efficient water management has become an ever-growing concern in agriculture – with the drought facing the Western Cape being one of the most pertinent examples in this regard. Finding tools and methods to save water is critical to the future success of farming, not just in South Africa, but globally as well. Overberg Agri’s knowledgeable team strive to keep up with the latest developments in environmentally-friendly irrigation practices by undergoing regular training. With their dedication to water conservation, SABI is an excellent partner in this regard.
We are exceptionally proud of Tian for his ongoing commitment to improving his knowledge within this area.
Congratulations!
