NAMPO Harvest Day is the largest privately-organised agricultural event in the southern hemisphere. Every year, around 80,000 people involved in the farming sector flock to the Free State to enjoy the 670 exhibitions. This year was no different – NAMPO 2019 was characterised by good weather and 81 345 visitors, who attended the trade show and popular gathering place for agriculturalists.

The event enables producers and other role players in the agricultural industry to experience the latest technology and products on offer in the farming industry first-hand. The Harvest Day is also regarded by Grain SA as one of the best contributors to ensure sustained food production in Southern Africa. It is customary for the panel discussions to stimulate dialogue about agriculture among stakeholders from different affiliations and political backgrounds.

This year’s discussions were exceptionally interesting and placed a particular focus on topics from land reform to what is required to allow the agricultural sector and the country’s economy to grow. In addition, it also involved quite a few discussions pertaining to government involvement – such as financing for black farmers, expanding markets, the profitability of the sector, a national crop insurance subsidy, skills development, improvement of infrastructure, as well as research on climate in particular.

All of the panel discussions can be viewed on the website here: http://www.nasieingesprek.co.za/.

Last year, Grain South Africa, signed with Bredasdorp Park, to host this trade show in the Western Cape for the first time. The event was a roaring success and served as an excellent agricultural information provider for all stakeholders. This year, NAMPO Cape will be taking place from 4-6 September 2019 in cooperation with the Bredasdorp Park NPC.

Producers in the Cape will be given an opportunity to network, compare prices and quality, and exchange farming tips – all while enjoying delicious food.

We look forward to seeing you there!
